Friends of SCCF

Support SCCF and change the lives of founders

The Shenandoah Community Capital Fund is the only cross-regional entrepreneur support organization that brings together and serves entrepreneurs from all across the Shenandoah Valley. Over the past 15 years, we have invested over 1.7 million dollars into our local communities, educated hundreds of entrepreneurs annually, and convened countless others to help build a more equitable and accessible ecosystem.

As a non-profit organization, SCCF relies on the power of our partnerships and community. Without the support of those who want to give back to the entrepreneurial ecosystem, entrepreneurs and business owners won’t be able to receive resources, programming, and events that help turn their dreams into reality.

Jenna Cauchi joined SCCF's Business Bootcamp to take her business from a social media thrifting account to a children's consignment boutique. Her biggest milestone, however, came when she attended an SCCF networking event, “Sarah, who owns BMC Bakes, invited me to one of SCCF's networking events. There, I met Kirsten Moore, the owner of Magpie and The Perch. I told her about my dream to open a children’s boutique, and she told me that she is opening The Liberty Street Mercantile, a collection of small businesses and local makers. I wasn’t looking for a brick-and-mortar store at the time, but it just fell into my lap. I felt like it was obvious, I had to take the opportunity!” Now, business is booming for Asdelia Mae Boutique and she's continuing to grow, hosting workshops and other community events at her store!

Based in Harrisonburg, VA, the program teaches kids ages 9 to 12 about digital design, digital fabrication, and automation. Andrei joined SCCF's Capacitor Incubator Program in the fall of 2023 and has been diligently working with his coaches to overcome his business hurdles and find new successes in his business, “SCCF and the support I've received from them through my participation in their entrepreneur growth programs has been an invaluable support. It's provided coaching, mentorship, and an incredible network that I could not have found otherwise."

Thanks to a partnership with the Harrisonburg Redevelop Housing Authority, Mary Walala joined Business Bootcamp with the idea of starting a short-term rental service for people who want to rent out their homes for extended periods, but don’t want to worry about managing the bookings and background checks. “I heard about the Business Bootcamp through working at the Harrisonburg Housing Authority and thought it would be a good idea to check it out. I had been thinking about my business idea for a while, but it was hard to make time to work on it. The Bootcamp really made me focus and put pen to paper, and the assignments helped to keep pushing me further along. I thought that by the end I might come out with a written business plan, but what I really got out of it was the foundation of how to think through the creation of a strong business.”
