Meet the Founders:

Having over 25 years of interior design experience, Heather Hopkins brings expertise from her background in commercial firms; architectural and interiors-only studios; retail, staging and set design, event design, and textile design to Studio Broad to service clients throughout Shenandoah Valley and beyond.

Heather is a professional member of the American Society of Designers, serving as Director-at-Large (2018-19) and President-Elect/Incoming President (2021/22). She is also involved in her local Rotary Club since 2016, serving on the board from 2019-present.

Originally from a midwest upbringing in Ohio, her adult life has taken her to cities up and down the east coast including Richmond, Charlotte, Providence, and Boston, prior to settling in Virginia. Heather's childhood consisted of family road trips, never to miss a roadside attraction or museum. Subconsciously absorbing these cues from craftsmen, glass-blowing, vintage trains, historical houses- and even weekend jaunts to Open Houses-, as well as her discovery of the fashion and the arts led to the realization that her creative outlet had career potential. Upon graduating from Ohio University, Heather moved to larger cities, first in Richmond and then to Boston to pursue Interior Design and integrate the values from her upbringing into design on a larger scale.

Heather resides in Staunton, Virginia with her husband, son, and newest member of the family, an Aussiedoodle named Tallulah. Having the opportunity to get to know the people of her community on an intimate level has been a welcoming and fulfilling experience, and has exceeded her expectations of living in a small city. Interior Design has always been a calling and a way of life for her, and being able to help small businesses and neighbors, as well as friends and family, only serves to emphasize why she loves doing what she does.

Pnina Jalon is a Principal and founder at Studio Broad with over 20 years of architectural and interior design experience.   Integrating her experience in architecture with interior design in both commercial and residential  projects, she brings a multidimensional perspective and approach to her body of work.  Throughout her notable career she has had diverse roles and produces creative designs that reflect her around the world experiences.  Starting in Los Angeles, as architectural  designer in several architecture practices, visual director, and designer for Dialogica LA, to most recently, Interior Design Project Manager for James Madison University, before starting Studio Broad in Charlottesville VA.  Professionally, she has been a  project manager on numerous design-build projects ranging from ground up buildings to interior renovations. As a Principal Partner of Studio Broad, Pnina oversees creative direction and leads projects through all phases of the design process.

Pnina’s creative and business experiences prior to her professional career in architecture and interior design heavily influence her process and approach to design.   Her background  in the art of making and hands-on experience informs her attention to the craft of building, and the effect details make on the overall space and outcome of project.  Her earlier career history includes jewelry designer, both owner, and maker, design-build  of exhibit booths, furniture and display structures for retail boutiques, and traveling throughout Europe as an artist assistant, facilitating in the planning and installations of shows in major museums.  Her own recognized work as a multi-media artist exhibited  in NYC gallery shows include sculptural installations and various works over several years.  Pnina’s design thinking, and practice are intricately based on the contextuality of these influences and experiences, and her attention and attitude towards buildings  and spaces as parts of something larger, each part of the building, from structure to the details as vital to integrated holistic design.
