FAQs

Have a question? We're here to help!

  • How do I know which business support program is right for me?

    • Our programs aim to help entrepreneurs at all stages of their business. Our Business Bootcamp program focuses on putting together your business plan, and developing the skills you need to start a business. If you’re new to starting a business or have been in business for a while, but want to review some of the fundamentals, Business Bootcamp is a good place to start. Our Startup Shenandoah Valley program is typically best suited for entrepreneurs who have an established business model already in place, and who are ready to set goals to grow their business. For our other programs and events throughout the year, we encourage entrepreneurs with any level of experience to join, as we make sure to include something beneficial for everyone. If you’re still unsure about what type of support your business needs, our programs team is available to discuss your options. Reach out to Katie Overfiled-Zook to learn more.

  • How do I know if I’m eligible for a microloan

    • SCCF can loan businesses in Augusta County, Bath County, Buena Vista, Frederick County, Front Royal, Harrisonburg, Highland County, Lexington, Luray, Page County, Rockbridge County, Shenandoah County, Staunton, Warren County, Waynesboro, and Winchester. The best way to learn more about loan eligibility is by filling out our loan interest form, and a member of our loan team will contact you to discuss your options. Filling out this form does not commit you to or guarantee a loan.

  • Where can I find entrepreneur resources near me?

    • Whether you're looking for a job, funding, mentorship, or professional services, Valley Business Compass can help you find all those things and more. The Valley Business Compass brings the network of resources and organizations in the Shenandoah Valley entrepreneurial ecosystem into a single platform for entrepreneurs, investors, community members, and anyone looking to connect.

  • How do I get notified about upcoming programs and events?

    • We’re so glad you asked! SCCF publishes a bi-monthly newsletter to alert you of our upcoming programs and events, our latest stories, and other exciting news happening in our ecosystem! Subscribe to stay up to date on all things entrepreneurship in the Valley.

  • What is entrepreneurial ecosystem building?

    • As a convener, collaborator, and catalyst of entrepreneurial activity in the Shenandoah Valley, SCCF is on a mission to reduce barriers to entrepreneurship for rural dreamers, doers, makers, and tinkerers, with a particular focus on under-resourced members of our community. We strive to build relationships among entrepreneurial supporters, and service and resource providers to enhance the flow of local talent, information, and resources so that entrepreneurs can find what they need when they need it. Learn more about our ecosystem-building approach here.
